About this guide
How the blocks are measured
Every count on this site can be reproduced from OpenStreetMap and TransLink data, using the dates and rules set out below. Every minute is an assumption, and the site says so wherever a walking time appears.

The data
The places around each casino come from OpenStreetMap, the map anyone can edit. The data was fetched through the Overpass API on October 8, 2026. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Every place keeps its OpenStreetMap id, so any count can be traced back to the map itself.
Five categories sort what the map shows. Transit means bus stops and stations. Hotel covers hotels, motels, guest houses and hostels. Food covers restaurants, cafes, fast food and food courts, while park means parks. Shops are malls, supermarkets and department stores, and stops mapped as private shuttles or HandyDART are left out.
Nearest bus stops and their routes come from TransLink's GTFS schedule data, in the feed valid September 7, 2026 to January 3, 2027. Distances to those stops are straight lines from the casino's map position. School specials are left out of the route lists.

The minutes
Every distance on the maps is a straight line from the casino's own map position, not a route along streets. Minutes rest on one assumption: 80 m a minute. A 5-minute walk is taken as 400 m. A 10-minute walk is 800 m, and a 15-minute walk is 1,200 m.
A real walk along streets is longer than the straight line. Being inside a ring means being inside a circle drawn on the map, not on a measured path. Each casino page lets a reader switch between the three rings and see the counts change. The chosen walking time is kept only in the browser.
The limits
OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers. A place can be missing from it, closed since it was mapped, or placed slightly off. Some counts include restaurants or a hotel inside the casino complex itself, when the map places them there.
Venue facts, such as addresses and hours, were checked on October 7, 2026, against the venues' own pages and official sources. Holiday hours should be checked on each venue's own site before a visit.
No place on the maps is recommended or judged, and each one is named only as mapped. Venues, TransLink and the places named on the maps never pay this site. The site offers readers no rewards and collects nothing about them.
